Maia Jeanette: Inspiring Strength & Resilience Through Gymnastics

If buying a business wasn’t bold enough, our Milwaukeean of the Week, Maia Jeanette, did it two days before the world shut down from COVID. No soft landing, no safety net—just perseverance, hustle, and a whole lot of heart.

Fast forward to today: she’s celebrating five years of ownership, expanding to a second location, and proving that setbacks don’t define you—how you respond does.

Beyond the gym walls, Maia is deeply invested in Milwaukee’s future and its kids. From hosting Gym Fest to raise money for young athletes, to donating toys, coats, and time to families in need, her mission is bigger than business.

We sat down with Maia to talk about entrepreneurship, community, and why Milwaukee summers (and Milwaukee Uncut 😉) just hit different. Let’s get into it.

What is your background?

Born in Chicago but raised in Milwaukee (Packers Fan 100%)

Any stories from your youth that define your path?

I grew up as a gymnast and then became a coach at the gym that I own before buying it. Two days after purchasing the business, we got shut down from COVID/The Pandemic. We just celebrated my 5 year anniversary of ownership and my 1 year anniversary for my second location (will be 2 years in March for the new location and 6 years on the original)

Where did you study (if you did higher education)?

UW Milwaukee (History Major/Nerd)

What do you do for work now?

Owner at Infinite Gymnastics.

What did it take to get to where you are now?

Hard work and perseverance.

Can you talk more about your community involvement?

We host an event annually called Gym Fest – a festival for kids (money goes back to the team athletes).  I’m also in Echelon and do volunteer work here and there feeding families. My company donates toys for tots and jackets for the Salvation Army.

What are some ways you have impacted the community in your line of work?

Teaching children to believe in themselves is my mission and my passion. Helping children to grow self esteem and confidence is my goal, and I think it’s important for little girls especially to see me as a role model to prove that you can do anything you set your mind to!

What do you like about living in Milwaukee?

The People! The Bucks. The Brewers. The Food. The Summers (Milwaukee is the BEST place to be in the Summer). Milwaukee Uncut 🙂 – of course

What do you want to see for Milwaukee’s future?

I’m excited for all of the new development that’s coming to Milwaukee and all of the business opportunities to come!
