On Saturday night, we hit the very last Food & Froth at the Milwaukee Public Museum before it officially closes next January. This was our first time attending, and we’re so bummed we didn’t know about this event sooner.
The atmosphere was incredible! What’s better than eating delicious foods and trying vendor after vendor of local beer throughout the museum’s exhibits?
Yes, you read that right. We munched on macaroons in the Streets of Old Milwaukee and sipped our way from The Third Planet exhibits on the first floor up to the third floor’s Crossroads of Civilizations experiences.
The museum was bustling with people ALL night. What we guessed was a few hundred people was quickly corrected by a Museum employee, who estimated they sold out at around 2,000 tickets. We were way off.
Here are a few of our favorites from Saturday night:
Seared Prime Sirloin Steak from Storyhill BKC: We know the star of the show is the cut of meat, but whatever mushrooms were on that plate were absolutely delicious.
Solid State N/A Sour from Eagle Park Brewery: The new non-alcoholic line from Eagle park is a must-try. We went back twice for their N/A Sour which was punchy and flavor-forward.
Chaos Pattern from 3 Sheeps: A tried and true go-to, we knew 3 Sheeps was going to be there so we had to make a stop.
Mushroom & Asiago Empanada: We’re devastated we forgot the name of the restaurant, but this empanada was incredible. Creamy asiago cheese paired with sauted mushrooms then dipped in a vibrant green chimichurri sauce. It was heavenly.
The Cyser from The Cider Farm: A tart, slightly sweet hard cider fermented with local honey. As a cider fan, this was a good one.
Tropical Sour from Young Blood Beer Co: YUM! So much flavor in one pour. There were notes of marionberry (had to look that one up), pineapple & pomegranate.
Mushroom Caprese Sandwich from Lowlands Group: This was our 6th small plate, and we definitely hit a wall after eating this one. We’re suckers for anything caprese and loved that they paired it with mushrooms.
For some reason, mushrooms were the winner of the night for us, but all the food was fantastic!
We really hope the Milwaukee Public Museum (which will be called The Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin) continues the tradition of Food & Froth after the new museum opens because we’d be first in line for tickets.
