A Campaign We Didn’t Expect Plus Two Quick Trips

A couple of weeks ago, out of the blue, we got an email from Kohl’s asking if we’d be interested in being part of their Bucks + Last-Minute Shopping campaign.

The timing was tight, but it was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up. We’d never worked with Kohl’s before (an incredible global company with local roots), and we love the Bucks — so we got to work.

The campaign kicked off with a Bucks game in the Kohl’s suite, where we even got to catch up with Charlie Berens. Richie interviewed him for eight solid minutes… then realized the mic wasn’t recording 😅. Charlie was kind enough to keep chatting anyway and shared some great stories.

The other part of the campaign was last-minute shopping, so we went skit-style with “Men vs. Women Holiday Shopping.” That one didn’t take much imagination — it’s exactly what happens to Bre and Richie every. single. year.

The results so far:

  • 100,000+ video views across platforms
  • 40,000+ email opens across two sends

Early Saturday morning, we packed up and drove north to Sand Valley — yes, a world-class golf resort in the dead of winter.

Richie went ice fishing for the first time (video coming soon), and we also went hiking, fat-tire biking, tubing, and enjoyed some incredible food and drinks. We even got a full property tour, including parts we’d never seen before. We can’t wait to share more from that trip.

We got back on Monday to wrap things up before Christmas, visited Grandma Lainey on Christmas Eve, then headed to Bre’s parents’ place in Menomonie. This past weekend, we spent time in Eau Claire, visiting over 17 small businesses, restaurants, and local spots.

It’s easy to see why Eau Claire is growing fast and consistently ranked as one of the top small cities in the country — more from that trip coming soon, too.

We hope you all had a great holiday and are gearing up for an exciting new year!

Thanks for being on this list. We’ll keep working hard to bring Wisconsin and Milwaukee together through non-traditional news, entertainment, and experiences.
