A couple of weeks ago, we got a random message on Instagram inviting us to be a part of Johnsonville’s 4th of July campaign at their Summerfest activation from 6-9pm on the 4th of July.
The activation would include “A full-on Johnsonville Sausage party: karaoke booth, inflatable eagle photo ops, birthday cake, DJ, Fortune Feimester, a sausage drone show and more…
Bre is fun. She loves brats, music, and crowds, and was very excited.
Bre was in.
I am older and crotchety when it comes to large crowds and loud music. I love a good brat and Summerfest during the day, but ever since Bre took me to a full-fledged Odeza EDM concert in the Amphitheater two years ago, I’ve tried to avoid Summerfest past 8pm at all costs.
I read the brief and Johnsonville’s mission behind the campaign: to bring America together to combat the loneliness epidemic and polarization our country is facing.
Some of the stats thrown out were:
- 64% of Americans are finding it harder to have fun than they used to
- 8 in 10 Americans are hanging out with other people less than they used to
- 88% of Americans agree social connections are important for well-being and happiness
I went back through their feed and watched a fun video posted during the election with Kevin from The Office. He goes back to Scranton, a swing state during the election, to bring people together on both sides despite the $81M spent on political ads.
Our mission for Milwaukee Uncut is simply to bring Milwaukee and Wisconsin together through non-traditional news, entertainment, and experiences.
I was also in!
After a tequila soda at Station 1846 to get warmed up, we boarded a City Tours vehicle (highly recommended) and headed over to Summerfest in the 90+ degree heat.
The activation was awesome and included everything it said it would.
We got to interview Fortune shortly after arriving, who could not have been nicer.
We also put together a Hot Dog Stand trivia video with Fortune, Billy Deuce, and Big Curt from Muskego — which will be out soon.
We hope everyone had a great 4th, and a huge thank you to Johnsonville for including us in the party!
